Photography Ideas For Spicing Up Your IG/FB/Pinterest

Everyone’s at home and online these days, so it’s your chance to maximize your exposure to people scrolling through their social media!

Whether you have a business or you’re a hobbyist, posting on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest is a must. For marketing and for the community.

As a business, you learn so much about your target audience and you gain trust and credibility. The more you post, the more visible you become, the more engagement you get and the more your target audience will trust you and choose you over your competitors.

As a hobbyist, posting on social media gives you a record of your progress. Artists, plant moms, crafters, carpenters, furniture builders: you’ll find your tribe on Instagram, Facebook or Pinterest, and aside from getting kudos for jobs well done, you also learn from your peers.

What do these three social media platforms have in common? Gorgeous images.

You need to upskill your photography game if you want to get noticed and followed! Thankfully, you don’t need expensive pro cameras to take good photos.

Here are some of our photography ideas and tips and techniques!

Before and After Photos

Few other things will make people stop scrolling like awesome before-and-after photos.

You might want to wait a bit before the big reveal, but the effect is worth it! Use the before and after photo as the main photograph in a multi-photo or carousel post.

Behind the scenes photos

Think of the before and after pics as the final product. In the meantime, post behind-the-scenes.

You don’t always have to post perfectly styled photos. Try posting your messy work desk or countertop. You do still have to arrange things a bit, and there are certain types of messes people don’t want to see, but otherwise, embrace that mess!

A half-done painting amid your brushes and paints would look mysterious and wonderful. A photo of your indoor bike with your wet towel on the handlebar is a pretty succinct humble brag that you worked out! A photo of your kids half-asleep at breakfast would be cute especially with all your other photos of homeschooling organizers and crafts.

Mix up your angles

This one really isn’t an idea because you’ve probably seen so many top view photos. But there’s a reason why it works. Also called a flat lay, it lets your creativity shine in how you arrange things. And you have to admit a top view is an angle we don’t usually see in real life.

You don’t have to court danger when you take top view photos. Use this flexible mount to give your phone stability and height.

Another favorite angle to try is the “worm view:” you’re on the ground looking up!

Steady your phone!

Are you getting less-than-sharp photos all the time? That’s because of camera shake. You might not notice it, but your hand might have moved your phone when you took the photo. It can be a minuscule movement, but it affected your photo all the same.

Use a tripod! This anywhere tripod can help you take sharp, crisp photos indoors or outdoors!

Sometimes, all you need is a tripod. And good lighting, too.
